Month 4, Weigh In Check In

scale

I made it to the fourth month of my journey and in some ways I can’t believe it’s been 4 months and in others I feel like I’ve been doing this thing FOREVER! I’ve been training for a 5k and have really been able to improve my cardiovascular health. This is something that was very important to me as that was one of my biggest goals when I started this journey. I wasn’t feeling well and I needed to be healthy for my children and my husband! I’m so thankful for the abilities God has given me and I’m going to try to not let them ever waste away again.

So with this post I’m sure you guys are all looking for the pictures and details. I know that’s what I’m interested in when I look up other people’s weight loss journeys, so here you go!

I now weight in at 162!! I’m still unsure of what my goal weight will end up being, but my guess is somewhere between 130-140. Here is my current picture.

March 20

I’m down to a Women’s size 10 jeans. My waist is 32 inches and my hips are 42 inches. I’m doing well training for the 5k and am considering going even further with that and train for a 10k. I’m not committed to that so we will see. I’m also continuing to study for my group fitness exam and plan to take that in mid April. Here is the college of every month. I’m losing more slowly at this point, which is okay and healthy.

I’m excited for what next month brings! Here’s hoping I pass my certification test in April!!

From Obese to Group Fitness Instructor, my Journey Begins!

This post has been a couple of months in the making. Something about putting it all out there in print makes it more of a reality. I’m guessing you know my next plans by the title of this post. That’s right, I’m working on getting certified on becoming a group fitness instructor! I’m excited and very nervous all at the same time.

In November I weighed my heaviest at 211 pounds. Now, only 4 months later, I’m at 164 and training to run a 5k and by this summer I hope to run my first 10k. This transition has gone so fast! That’s the first point I want to make. I think it’s important to realize that no matter where you are in your health journey it’s NEVER TOO LATE to get started to make healthier choices! I have no idea how God is going to use this new idea I have, but I know I’m using my body as a way to serve Him by getting healthier.

If all goes as plan I’ll be taking my first certification test around April 12. Then I’ll have to decide on what module I want to get certified in. I have a couple of ideas, but I’ll announce it after I have it set for sure. I’ll be honest. I continue to doubt myself daily. The thought of whether I’ll be good enough and if others will take me serious in the fitness world scare me. Me being an introvert doesn’t help, but I love the idea of getting up in class and leading others to make the same changes I did, or help them continue to improve their fitness level. Is it really possible to accomplish all of this in 6 months time? I guess we’ll find out, one step at a time! I’ll keep you updated.

Take care,

Miranda Lynn

Month 3 Weigh In, Check In

scale

It’s hard to believe that I’m done with another month. I’m feeling so much better and am so happy with my progress. I’m also starting to make some bigger goals for my future and what I want to accomplish, but more on that later! For now it’s time for my monthly check in!

compare callage

Well, my first announcement is I JUST made it into the 160’s. So I’m officially at 169.8 pounds. Back in November when I started my weight loss journey I REALLY wanted to be in the low 170’s by my birthday on Feb. 20, so I’m very happy with my progress. I’ve hit my goals by making a plan and sticking to it. I have had very few “cheat” moments, and I’m starting to make the mind shift of this being a lifestyle change and NOT just a temporary diet. I lost 1 more inch from my hips and waist and am averaging slightly over 2 pounds a week for weight loss. I wouldn’t want it any more than that as I want to do this the right way. Here’s a comparison from the begin and now.

I’m also going to be starting the C25K program, that stands for couch to 5K. I do actually plan to sign up for a few races this summer for causes that I support. I’m excited to be getting more active again and using some of that energy to keep up with my 4 amazing kids! They have been so encouraging during this transition phase and are even enjoying the benefits of better and healthier foods for them as well!

Celebrate Non-Scale Victories!

non-scaleI rely on my scale A LOT to tell me how I’m doing. What I really should be looking at is how I’m feeling, how am I fueling my body, am I getting exercise fit into my day, or am I truly embracing a permanent change and not just getting to a certain number on the scale. Yet the scale seams to be the one thing that I put value in. That has to change! There are so MANY Non Scale victories that you can measure, but half the time, and if I’m honest with myself, most of the time, I fail to even recognize them.

This weekend was not one of those times. I’m down almost 40 pounds on my scale, but at this phase the weight is starting to come off a bit slower than in the beginning of my journey. I was letting the scale tell me I wasn’t doing as well as I once was, but my habits we’re actually getting better. Then, yesterday we celebrated my second daughter’s birthday. What did she want? She wanted to get together with family at the local pizza restaurant for the buffet and then go swimming at the indoor pool. 2 months ago, the thought of going to the buffet with other family members…family members who don’t struggle with food choices like I once did, and then going to the pool with the same family members would have caused me to stress out just a little. Okay, maybe a lot! Yesterday was different! It was the biggest non-scale victory to date. I even got complimented on how well I was looking, and even though I still don’t know exactly what to say when people compliment my appearance, I was thankful!

So yesterday I celebrated NOT being overly tempted be unhealthy food choices at the buffet, but instead was thankful for a fully stocked salad bar. I was thankful that I didn’t feel self conscious in my swimsuit with family and as an added bonus when we bumped into a coworker of my husbands. However, I was the most grateful that I could be fully present to help my daughter celebrate HER birthday without the added weight of how I was feeling. I could be happy with her choice of activities with out the guilt of my past bad choices. Family is my main reason for wanting to dive into a healthy lifestyle, and as I learn more and do more, my k ids will learn from me! So today, I’m celebrating ALL of my non-scale victories and will try to find more of them each day!

Meal Squeeze Review

meal squeezeDoes $5 a month for someone to plan your suppers for you with an included grocery list (broken down in categories), meal prep list, plus they are healthy and offer a huge variety throughout the week sound too good to be true? How about the fact that each meal is ready in about 30-40 minuets with 1 meal being ready in about 20 minuets? Yeah… I thought so too! However, Meal Squeeze does exactly that, and the bonus is my family really ENJOYS the food! How often can you say that your 10 year old took a second helping of brussel sprouts? Or your 7 year old who almost flat out refused to even try the brussel sprouts begrudging agreed that they were actually good! When I cook these meals, I actually feel like an amazing cook. I’m happier for feeding my family things that can help them grow in their healthy eating habits too! Here is a picture of some fish I baked with parmesan asparagus.

You see, I’m working on myself. I’ve learned that if I want to be the best mom and wife that I can be that includes taking care of my own body. It’s teaching myself how to love me and in return I can teach my children how to grow and love themselves. My kids are growing up. I have a preteen now and I remember those school days all too well. However, when I was putting a lot of focus in what I needed to do to get healthy and lose the extra weight, I was putting less time and effort into my family’s meals. Now, Meal Squeeze does all the work for me, and I can be confident in what I’m feeding my family. Most of the meat and vegetables I can also enjoy with them which is also a time saver and added bonus!

So if you feel like you hit a slump with meal planning or just find it to be a burden you no longer wish to carry, give Meal Squeeze a try! Check out my affiliate link here: https://www.mealsqueeze.com?afmc=2c They also have a 7 day FREE TRIAL with no payment information required!! I will warn you though, once you prepare 7 of her meals, you’ll be convinced that the $5 a month is more than worth it!
